che dire? c'è qualcuno che non lo conosce? un monumentale soul singer che introduce quel caratteristico graffio aggressivo alla musica soul reinventandola, tra il 1965 e il 1972 pubblica una serie impressionante di dischi per la Atlantic, anche se spalleggiato dalla home band della Stax e da quella dei Muscle Shoals studios in Alabama, che coferiscono quell'inconfondibile vena southern a tutto il periodo. L'unica eccezione in questi anni è il disco del 1970:In Philadelphia, dove la back up band è composta dalla crema del Philly sound, iniziando dal triumvirato Baker, Harris, Young, per finire con Vince Montana, Don Renaldo e Thom Bell. Nella playlist ho cercato di stringere attorno ai brani più funk influenced, consapevole di tralasciare tanta roba.
