bassista jazz, ma soprattutto: compositore, arrangiatore e produttore, attivo fin dai 50's in ambito jazz anche con la Chess records, quindi come produttore degli Impressions nel 1963 e nuovamente da solista a partire dal 1968 con: Set a pattern, ABC records, da cui consiglio: Sea tea e: Squalls a plenty, grande salto di qualità nel 1970, con lo splendido album: Otrageous, per la MGM, soul jazz\funk orchestrale espresso in piccole perle come: That ain't to cool, No hangs up e la title track. Queste sonorità le ritroviamo nelle colonne sonore degli anni 70, capolavori Blaxploitation come: Brother on the run , Perceptions records 1973 ( Brother on the run-opening, Brother, Auto chase ), Shaft in Africa, ABC records 1973 ( You Can’t Even Walk In The Park (Opening Theme), Areyou man enough, con i Four Tops, Shaft in Africa, Truck stop), sempre del 1973 sono i commenti sonori della serie tv: Shaft hit-run, reperibili solo su ritampe, non essendo usciti all'epoca, come la colonna soora di: Bucktown, 1975, anch'essa reperibile solo su stampe non ufficiali e successive.
