nato Frederick Russell Jones, cambia il nome con la conversione all'Islam negli anni 50, pianista jazz, compositore, bandleader ed educatore. Per sei decenni è stato, oltre che un musicista sensazionale, personaggio seminale per tre generazioni di artisti jazz e non solo.
