Vanno e vengono dal mercato discografico per tre volte nel corso di un trentennio, ovviamente la prima apparizione,cioè quella che va dal 1979 al 1983 ( per l'alfabeto fino all'81) e pertinente a questa pagina. Il primo singolo esce nel 1979: Cool \ Dub, su DB recs, entrambi i brani sono ripubblicati sull'EP 10": !! ( Armageddon records, 1980 )che contiene anche: Danger!!! e Driving school, queste ultime le ritroviamo sul loro primo album: Gyrate, ancora su DB Recs, 1980, che contiene anche: Volume e Gravity. cantante, produttrice e attrice indiana che conosce un discreto successo durante tutti i 70's, con una raffinata etno\dance music a partire dall'album omonimo del 1973 per la CBS, che contene: Right down here e Lies.Si ripete nel 1975 con She Loves To Hear The Music, singolo dance che titola l'album CBS, da cui consiglio anche: One Night Affair. Il vero successo internazionale arriva però nel 1976, con: The Devil is loose, million seller single, che precede l'ottimo album omonimo, dove troviamo anche la splendida Space talk e: Flying fish. Il successivo Lp: L'Indiana, 1978, contiene ancora brani interessanti: There Is A Party Tonight, Music Machine (Dedication To Studio 54) e: I'm gonna dance, su tutti. L'ultimo disco da citare, prima di un crollo verticale, è: 1001 Nights of love, 1979, con: Peek-A-Boo-Boogie.

fantastica vocalist brasiliana, attiva dall'inizio dei 60's, prima in ambito Bossa Nova, poi per quella che sarà la sua comfort zone, cioè la Fusion\Jazz. Moglie di Airto Moreira, legati a doppiomfilo anche artisticamente su tutti gli album di entrambi, sviuppa una militanza importante in gruppi come i Return to forever e Rhythm Devils, con decine di collaborazioni tra cui: Dizzy Gillespie, Gil Evans, Opa, Stan Getz, George Duke, Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Santana, Jaco Pastorius. Il primo album che interessa l'alfabeto è Butterfly Dreams, su Milestone, 1973, da cui consiglio: Dr Jive (Part 2) e Moon dreams. Sempre su Milestones esce, nel 1974, Stories to tell, che contiene: Casa forte, Vera Cruz ( empty faces ) e la title track. Open Your Eyes You Can Fly, del 1976, è, a mio parere, l'apice della bellezza nella discografia di Flora, con: Andei ( I walked) di Airto, Sometime ago e la splendida title track. Sempre del 1976, il live 500 Miles High, da cui consiglio: Cravo e canela e Jive talk. studio band che supporta Jack Ashford, quando questi si trasfrì a Los Angeles nel 1976, ottenendo il sostegno della Management music agency, MAM Magnificents records ( di cui ho già trattato i post di Eddie Parker e The Magnificents ), per editare questo materiale, cioè, un singolo 7": Headin west \ Broken machine, entrambi strumentali.
Bernard Lee Purdie, grande batterista di scuola jazz, suona nelle band di Roy Ayers, Leon Thomas, Gil Scott Heron e tanti altri, sviluppando anche una clamorosa carriera anche da solista. Debutto discografico nel 1968, con: Soul drums, per la Date, da cui consiglio: Soul bossa nova, Funky donkey e la title track. Nel 1971, come Bernard Purdie & the Playboys ( formazione che vede la presenza di: Tasha Thomas, Cornell Dupree, Chuck Rainey e altri big ), collabora con Gil Scott Heron, per Revolution will not be televised e incidendo anche un album per la Mega: Stand by me (Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get ) che contiene: Funky Mozart e: Watcha see is whatcha get. Nello stesso anno esce anche, per la Prestige: Purdie is good!, da cui consiglio: Cold sweat e la title track. Ancora per la Prestige, ma del 1972: Shaft, con una stratosferica cover del classico di Isaac Hayes, ma anche con: Butterfinger e: Them changes. Nel 1972 esce anche: Soul is...Pretty Purdie, per la Flying Dutchman, con: What's Going On / Ain't No Sunshine, Good Livin' (Good Lovin'), Put it where you want it. Henry "Pucho" Brown, grande percussionista latin\jazz, passa alla storia del groove con la band che forma nel 1959: Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers. Eccezione dovuto in questo caso, essendo il loro primo album del 1966, ma non si può saltare Tough, su Prestige, che contiene: Cantelope island, Vietnam mambo, Strange thing mambo. Da qua in avanti c'è una bella serie di perle su Prestige, ben due nel 1967: Saffron & suol, che contiene: Aye mama, What a piece, Caravan e The groover, quindi: Shuckin' & Jivin', con: You are my sunshine, Maiden voyage e la splendida title track. Nel 1968 è ancora accoppiata, con: Heat, da cui consiglio: Psychedelic Pucho, I an't stop loving you, Let love find you e Payin' dues, mentre dal successivo Big Stick, le top tracks sono: Swamp people, Sunny, Left in the cold. Chiudiamo i 60's con Dateline del 1969, con la grande title track, Ain't Nothin Can't Happen. La collaborazione con la Prestige finisce nel 1970, con: Jungle fire!, da cui segnalo: Got myself a good man, Friendship train, Cloud nine, Jamilah. I 70's vedono il succedersi di cambi di labels, ma la qualità rimane eccelsa, iniziando da: Yaina, su Right on records, 1970, che contiene: Chitterling con carne, Homeland, Inside the corn e la title track, per uno degli album migliori della sua discografia. altro cambio di label nel 1972, con il passaggio alla Zanzee e l'arrivo di: Super freak, canto del cigno di questo post, ma comunque ennesima perla, con: Medley: Superfly / Pusherman / Freddie's Dead, Judy's mood, Oak Hurst Art.

funk 45 per la ottima True soul, leggendarioa indie label di Lee Anthony: Funky football e una cover di Thank you ( Sly Stone), sulla B side, anno incerto , ma direi fine 60's inizio 70's.
post punk\new wave band, formata dai fratelli londinesi Tim e Richard Butler. Debutto discografico nel 1979 con il singolo: We love you \ Pulse, su Epic, che precede l'album omonimo del 1980 per la CBS, disco ancora legato al movimento punk e alla trilogia berlinese di Bowie ( massima ispiratrice di gran parte della new wave a venire). La musica cambia con l'arrivo del produttore Steve Lillywhite che, senza alterare le caratteristiche dalla band, convoglia il tutto in un prodotto più fruibile nell'album: Talk Talk Talk. Brani consigliati: Pretty in pink, Mr. Jones. Talk talk talk è l'apripista degli anni 80, che vedranno anche produzioni di Tod Rundgreen, ma tutto ciò, già fuori dal range temporale dell'alfabeto.

poliedrico musicista dallo Zambia, dedito a interessanti melting pot tra funk\rock, Afro-funk e psichedelia. Il debutto discografico avviene con la band: Musi O Tunia, di cui è il leader indiscusso, con due album nel 1975, il primo: Give love to your children, con la title track, Sunkah e Katonga, il secondo: The Wings of Africa, che contiene: Dark sunrise, The sun, Mpondolo, entrambi i dischi sono editi su M.O.T. records. A seguito del notevole successo locale, Llilonga si dedica alla carriera solista e, sepre nel 1975, pubblica: Zambia, su: Zambia music parlour, che contiene: The hole e Sansa Kuwa. Nel 1976 esce: Sunshine love, Sepiso records, da cui consiglio: Take it light, mentre, dal successivo Soweto, sempr su Sepiso, segnalo: You got the fire, Fire high. Continuano le incisioni su Sepeso anche nel 1978, con: Dread eyes, top tracks: Give me love pt.2, Oh Jah. Gli anni 80 rimangono ancora sotto l'egida della Sepiso, almeno ancora per due album, cioè: Sama name music, 1980, con: Making music, She's back e con: Shanty town boy, 1981, dove salvo la sola Get organized.
