Muscle Shoals Horns

 fantastica sezione fiati composta da: Harrison Calloway (trumpet), Harvey Thompson (saxophone, flute), Charles Rose (trombone), Ronnie Eades (baritone saxophone), prendono il nome dalla città dell'Alabama dove hanno base, cioè: Muscle Shoals, dove troviamo anche gli omonimi studi di registrazione. Innumerevoli le loro collaborazioni ma siamo qui per analizzare la discografia intestata alla band, anche se un po' scarna ma qualitativamente alta,con il debutto un po' in sordina di: the cream of Muscle Shoals, Eagle records company, 1975, che contiene Skin it back del Little Feat, per arrivare al boom del secondo album: Born to get down, Bang 1976, vero capolavoro tutto da suonare:Born To Get Down (Born To Mess Around), Bump De Bump Yo Boodie, Open Up Your Heart, Hustle to the music, Breakdown ( cover potenziata di Black skin blue eyed boys degli Equals), Get it up, insomma, praticamente tutto il disco. Non facile replicare un opera di questa portata, infatti il successivo: Doin' It To The Bone, per la Ariola records America del 1977 non è all'altezza, pur rimanendo disco di ottima qualità, da cui segnalo: Dance to the music, Sexual revolution, Keep On Playin' That Funky Music e la title track.
