quattro dei fratelli Neville: Art, Aaron, Cyril e Charles, si riuniscono nel 1976 per le registrazioni dell'album dei the Wild Tchoupitoulas, band guidata dal loro zio George Landry, dopo questa esperienza danno alle stampe: the Neville brothers, Capitol records 1978, da cui consiglio: Dancing Jones, All nights all right. Il disco si allontana dalle sonorità tipiche della "famiglia", ovvero il Bayou Funk e le produzioni di Allen Touissant, probabilmente dovuto all'influenza del produttore Jack Nitzsche, sonorità che tornano nel successivo:Fiyo on the bayou ( A&M records 1981), dove l'attinenza con: Fire on the bayou dei Meters è tutt'altro che casuale, sia perchè il brano è presente nell'album sia perchè è presente anche Leo Nocentelli. Altri brani consigliati: Sweet honey dripper, Hey Pocky way e: Run Joe, insomma...un gran disco. Nel 1979,tra i due album, inciso per la home label cookies, esce il singolo 7": Sweet Honey Dripper / Dance Your Blues Away, dove troviamo un'altro dei fratelli Neville, cioè Ivan, come autore della B side.
